Laneway is a two bedroom traditional Norfolk flint cottage in the village of Wiveton on the North Norfolk coast.  It has a south facing enclosed garden with a large terraced area immediately accessible from the sitting room. 

It is a short walk from the very popular Wiveton Bell, a mile from Cley and just over a mile to Blakeney, making it an ideal location for exploring the North Norfolk coastline.

The Cottage

Laneway has two bedrooms. A large bedroom overlooking the garden with a super king size bed and built in cupboards and a twin bedroom looking out to the private driveway, also with built in cupboards. Beds are made up ready for your arrival. There is a bathroom with bath, basin and toilet and also a shower room with shower, basin and toilet.

The sunny sitting room with a large screen Smart TV opens out to the garden through French doors. It has an open fire. Wood and kindling provided (October to May).

The kitchen/dining has been recently refurbished, but maintains the original Aga which makes the kitchen a cosy place to wine and dine in the winter months and is great for cooking too. There is a Bosch electric double oven and ceramic hob, dishwasher, fridge and small freezer.

There is a separate utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer.

The garden is completely enclosed and the south facing terrace with outdoor furniture is the perfect sheltered spot for relaxing. The back of the property is all private parking (room for up to three cars) and is also enclosed. There is a wooden garage which can be used for bike storage.

The cottage is heated by oil fired central heating. Wifi, heat, electric and wood for the fire (in season) are all included in the price.

Pets are accepted (additional charge applies). Maximum of two at the owner’s discretion.

The cottage is all on one level apart from a small step up into the main entrance.

Laneway is the perfect spot for exploring the North Norfolk coast – either by car or on foot. The cottage is a short five minute walk from access to the Norfolk coastal path and to Cley village where you can easily jump on a Coasthopper bus.

There are many great places to eat in close proximity. A short walk to the Wiveton Bell or into Cley – to the deli to pick up a sandwich or to Wiveton Hall Café. Alternatively jump in the car and a short drive will take you to a range of excellent and varied places to eat. The Dun Cow at Salthouse, The Maltings at Weybourne, The Kings Head at Letheringsett, The Kings Arms in Blakeney, The Langham Bluebell, the Stiffkey Red Lion and too many to list in the local Georgian Market town of Holt, renowned for its boutique shopping experience.

There are beautiful beaches in both directions from Wiveton.  Notably Wells and Holkham to the west and Cromer and Sheringham to the east.

National Trust sites – Blickling Estate, Felbrigg Hall and Sheringham Park and other well know family estates perfect for exploring – The Holkham Estate and The Houghton Estate are all within easy reach. 

If you are holidaying with children, there are some excellent all day experiences to be found in Norfolk.  Pensthorpe near Fakenham, Roarr! the Dinosaur Park near Lenwade, BeWILDerwood near Wroxham and Hirsty’s Family Fun Park at Hemsby.

We stayed at Laneway Cottage for the first time this October (2022) We loved it . Perfect location with great access to local walks , villages and high quality pubs. The cottage is of a high standard ,well equipped, very clean, comfortable and peaceful, ideal for dog owners Our host, Catherine, was very helpful and accommodating with all arrangements . We have taken advantage of having a break at Laneway for a number of years now; it is a delightful cottage. Always spotlessly clean, very comfy and so welcoming the moment you step through the door. Down a quiet lane with ample off-road parking, it is everything you could wish for when escaping for that special Norfolk holiday.
We just returned from a twelve day pre-Christmas break at Laneway Cottage in the village of Wiveton. It is an absolutely lovely cottage, having everything we needed and much, much more! Laneway has a comfy super-king size bed with cool white cotton sheets. All of the rooms are large and airy. There is both a bathroom and a shower room with a seemingly endless supply of hot water.
There is a hair dryer. There is a washer, a dryer, and a Belfast sink. There is an Aga keeping everything cosy, as well as central heating and a huge fireplace, with plentiful logs provided . And the quiet! Blissful... The peace at constant hand! Remarkable... The stars without any light pollution at all! Awesome... We even saw the Milky Way one night. On top of all of these features, Laneway Cottage is dog-friendly. Our two ancient Labradors had a safe, totally enclosed, grassy garden to wander around, and plenty of places to snooze the hours away. Their very slow walks along nearby country bridle paths were short but full of luscious rural perfumes. To be sure, we have never returned from a holiday in our beloved Norfolk so rested; so relaxed. We look forward to our next visit, and the next, and the next. Laneway Cottage is simply the best.
Had a great holiday at Laneway - our fourth visit. The cottage is really spacious and comfortable. It gives a taste of country living - open fire, cooking on the Aga and the total peace and quiet - bliss. We've enjoyed lots of our favourite walks from the door around lovely Wiveton, Cley and Blakeney. We too have been lucky enough to see the barn owl and also a pheasant sat on the cottage hedge keeping an eye on us! We look forward to our next visit.
We have just enjoyed a week's stay at Laneway and found both the cottage and the location idyllic. The cottage is well appointed and cosy. Central heating plus an open fire and an Aga in the kitchen means the cold weather is easily forgotten once inside. Excellent walks from the door and pretty coastal villages within easy reach from this peaceful and pretty location. We would re commend Laneway to anyone looking for a quiet country break. We look forward to booking another break soon.
We have just had a lovely week in Laneway cottage. Hopefully the first of many, we have already booked for next spring. The cottage has absolutely everything you need, and is in a beautiful location. You have wonderful walks all around and Holt for shopping. If you want to relax, walk or birdwatch then this is the place to do it! A short walk to the coast, Cley and Blakeney, Bayfield walk nearby (regular sighting of a barn owl, over the garden too). Wonderful food wherever you go. Enjoyed a real fire in the evenings. Can't wait for our next visit.
